Field Rambling: An introduction
Coliban Main Channel, Malmsbury north So, what is Field Rambling? Field Rambling is a term used in the UK to describe the exploration of often long settled country, for example, examining old Rights of Way and historic remnants. The Australian term bushwalking more often means walking in natural surroundings, with the aim of traversing quite substantial distances. Because this Blog is more about the pleasures of historical explorations in settled country it was thought that Field Rambling is the more apt expression to use. Over the course of a number of years I've been interested in finding the exact locations of old historic photographs. This Blog details some of those investigations. Some of the stories focus on the Coliban Main Channel in Central Victoria which I've explored in depth.
