The Coliban Main Channel: Flume 2

In The Coliban Main Channel: A Walking Guide (page 109) there is a photo looking up the gully with Flume 2 pretty well hidden among the trees (near the top of the photo). In the interests of making sure I had accurately identified the location of this historic photo (see map page 105) I clambered down the rock strewn and blackberry infested gully to see if I could replicate the view.

As so often happens, it's difficult to match the old view precisely. The landscape alters over time due to floods or construction works and trees have a nasty habit of growing right where the original 19th century photographer probably stood.

The closest I could get was a little lower and to the right of the original position. While some large boulders seem to have toppled over, the distinctive rock in the right foreground allows me to be positive in my identification of this gully as being the site of Flume 2.
